PUNE (INDIA)

HOW DO GIRLS GROW UP WHEN THEY LIVE IN UNDERSERVED CIRCUMSTANCES?

When children grow up in difficult circumstances, girls often suffer even more than boys. When a family has few options, it is more likely to let boys still go to school, while the girls soon have to help out at home. If there is any kind of healthy food at all, it is more likely to be given to the boys than to the girls. And when this has been this way for generations, the parents often don't know any better. The only way out for girls is early marriage or the streets. Without an education, they have to earn a living. As a result, girls also often end up in violent and unsafe situations.

10CHILDREN collaborates in Pune with Vibhabvari Deshpande (actress/writer, director) and Shrirang Godbole (director/writer) (Rainbow Theatre).

The festival will take place at the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha, (MKSSS).
